I need to ask any digital artists out there; is an ipad or drawing tablet better for digital art?

I understand a lot of this boils down to software, but I only have a small amount of experience on computer with a tablet so changing won't matter a lot to me

Pros of an iPad:

  • portable

  • Multi-purpose

  • procreate looks good?

Cons:

  • apple product (I'm not an Apple user)

  • less compatible with PC than a drawing tablet

  • procreate is pretty much the only option for software

For the sake of the question, we're going to pretend that price difference doesn't matter that much (exception: I'm not going to get a $1,500 ipad though because that's what my computer cost)

I use one of those already but I was considering getting one with a screen built in because it really helps to see what I'm drawing

fr, I didn’t know you already did have one but I totally know what you mean, they definitely aren’t the easiest to use

I'm leaning towards ipad right now because of the higher functionality. Also, pro tip: don't get apple products engraved because it ruins the resale value

having the screen glass badly damaged also does that :D, I would use my ipad to draw if it were a smooth surface, but unfortunately it is not

yeah that's exactly why apple offers them for free
