I know it hasn’t been long at all since the first one, but turns out the “default” school computers are a “Lars” model/CPU/thing/I DON’T KNOW/etc. which isn’t ideal for me. While yes, I do have an Octopus model/etc. school computer I don’t want to risk it with that one since they know it was assigned to ME and ONLY me. I plan on asking my friend who doesn’t use his assigned laptop at all if I could borrow it since me always being on it and then suddenly going offline for a period of time so long it’s unbelievable is quite suspicious. Even after getting in contact with the creator of SH1MMER they just told me that Octopus.bin won’t work on Lars model and sent me the repo link and just told me I can build the shim file myself but I’m too dumb for that so I guess I’m going to have to decide my choice lol.
[Side note: I should probably state that YES, I am going to enroll it when I’m done, this is only to play games like Terraria and Minecraft Java Edition, and I’ll only be doing this until the end of the year, I’ll also have to be careful since my friend got caught unblocking his Chromebook with another method and got in trouble with the school (he just lost his assigned Chromebook, that’s all)]
So, thankfully before Google could delete all the source .bin
files, I downloaded the single one I need. I downloaded octopus.bin
which I’ll be testing out tomorrow if I can get access to the school computer I downloaded it on. Since Chromebooks (going to use my mom’s) don’t need Administrator Privileges to use Chrome Recovery Utility I can easily do it on there instead of pestering my computer science teacher to just let me do it (I said I was basically installing a file I needed for my “home” computer, he still said no).
GOD FRICKING DAMN THEY DISCONTINUED IT RIGHT WHEN I WAS ABOUTTA GET ACCESS TO A WINDOWS COMPUTER BRUH
going to try this and keep everyone updated on how it’s going
edit: will need to do this on the school COMPUTERS (window) first with my handy dandy usb and then do it in class
If anyone wants to do funny unblocking on chromebooks --> https://sh1mmer.me
edit: if you want, it requires downloading several gigabytes and having a flash drive
i ironically posted this without even trying to reference it to my username
i’m stupid but i just realized youtube made it much easier to find a channel using their tag
also follow @sodium for updates on this
i think it MIGHT be a good idea to learn node.js before diving in blindly? and possibly learn a bit about mongodb too
edit: it’s also not going to be console-based anymore
going to name it sodium (lowercase), and i think i’m actually going to use node.js and mongodb

i can only imagine what spam bots/raids will be like…
(overall a great idea)
ok, but if anybody abuses it, it’s gone
edit: never mind… allowing arbitrary audio uploads is hard from a technical and a legal perspective…
@jeffalo I would indeed like to be able to import audio from other sources (plz)
Wasteof needs an audio function. There's no way to get across any nuance with text. I bet there would be way less controversies if I could explain myself with audio.
as an ios user i agree
when i purchase a game on my laptop i love to just play it on another laptop like my school one (both chromebooks) but won’t waste the money to get it for my phone since i game on my laptop more
