Fun! I’d highly recommend staying with 16GB of RAM - anything higher) than that is just unnecessary. I would, however, strongly suggest spending more money on the CPU. That GPU with an i3 is going to be massively bottlenecked. Even if you have to get an older GPU, I’d strongly recommend getting at least an i5 or even switching to a Ryzen CPU (which yes, would require a different motherboard, but if you’re getting more performance cheaper then it’s worth it).
I picked an i3 because when I made this GPU prices were higher, but if they start dropping I’ll be able to spend more money on it
Yeah - well like I said, unless you exclusively want to use this rig for something like Blender rendering or something that's purely GPU (aka not games) then you really might consider downgrading the GPU and upgrading the CPU because it's going to be a bottleneck in most tasks.
Got it. I’m revising my list now and I’m going to try the same GPU since the price dropped, but I’ve changed my CPU to an Intel i5-12400
So I’ve upgraded to an i5 12400 and I now have a Gigabyte B660M motherboard, I revamped a whole bunch of other things as well and dropped price for an RTX 3050 and a new 550W power supply… I’m 2 dollars over with a different CPU cooler but I don’t think two bucks is gonna be a problem.
Sounds a lot more reasonable
