I like your ideas! Here are the ones that I disagree with though:
Message consolidation (personally I find it much easier when messages are categorized instead of having to keep up with color codes
Account switching (like you said, I think this really will encourage alt spam)
Live posts (especially for a network as small as wasteof.money when posts don’t even happen every minute, I really don’t think it’s worth the server weight or the technical challenge of doing this)
I actually really want live posts, but I agree about the messages thing. its bad for accessibility because someone could be colorblind. You could add an icon I guess but still
I'm fine with live posts, but it would be much more practical to just make an HTTP request every minute rather than utilizing websockets which makes externally connecting to the API very difficult.
Add in a newest posts page, that shows you the latest posts across the site
