calling all apple nerds

ok so i’m considering getting some airpods to replace my 6-year-old headphones with a battery that is slowly becoming unable to hold a charge

i’m currently looking at the 2nd and 3rd revisions of the regular airpods (not the pro version, that’s out of my price range/the amount i can convince my parents to pay)

soo which one

I have the second generation ones. They are very good and still last

For context, I've had them for two years. They still work just as well as they used to.

Get the 3rd gens, I have them and they're very good. The 2nd gens are kinda old, and if your parents are paying you may as well get the best ones

true haha

(however i’ll have to do more digging to see if they can connect to non-apple devices)

They can (I think)

Yes, both can connect via good old Bluetooth. For both android and windows (theres probably something for Linux but I am not aware of it) there’s even an (unofficial) app that lets you use the built in controls as well.
