it is the Year of Our Lord 2023 and you STILL cannot view a file that’s inside the Windows Recycle Bin, you have to copy it out manually and then you can open it…

WHY?!

Why is the implementation of the Recycle Bin so needlessly complicated ( en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trash_(computing)#Microsoft_Windows ) as to make this necessary? Why can’t you just move the file to a (mostly) ordinary temp folder and then write some metadata about where it was and when it was deleted, LIKE A NORMAL PERSON? Others have done it right - on iPadOS (shudders) you can view trashed files without recovering them first. And, for that matter (it’s never really affected me, but it has happened to my family), why do I have to worry about the bin filling up or a file being too big to fit? WHO CARES! It’s a folder on my hard drive! It’s full when the drive is full!

man, Windows is a mess.
