could just be a habit / trying to normalise the use
also, mybearworld’s point: not everyone has perfect “common sense”. someone could think it’s a typo, non-native speaker etc. i’ve been in a very similar situation myself and while i am able to discern tone 80% of the time, they are still nice to have when that 20% comes around

I have ADHD and also can struggle to identify contexts, but this is ridiculous. Knowing time travelling doesn’t exist is a basic fact anyone over the age of 6 should know and if someone is that dumb, than use google
Yes, people can probably deduce that it isn't serious. The exact meaning, though, isn't clear.
