If they know it’s not real, they know it’s a joke, thus the tag is not needed!

Doesn't necessarily have to be one. It could be confusion, a typo…

  1. How can a person be confused what year they are in, already said

  2. You can’t typo “2023” as “2048”, not near on keyboard, invalid

some people are confused what year they’re in. go on tiktok and you’ll find plenty of people who claim to be timetravelers. what me and @mybearworld are saying is that tone indicators do help to show whether you or joking or not.

And anyone with common sense knows it’s a joke and time travelling isn’t real so a tone tag isn’t needed

but just because you know time travelling isn't real doesn't mean you know that someone else knows that.

That’s common sense and Google exists

  1. Non-native speaker?

  2. What if you happen to have the number 48 in mind and accidentally type 2048 instead? Happens to me every now and then. And what if someone uses some sort of ergonomic keyboard where 3 and 8 much more closer than on regular QWERTY?

And what if someone simply can't go through this thought process everytime they see an incorrect statement?

Come on, stop making excuses

The point is, there's always a possibility. Two characters aren't a lot to type and help a lot.

There’s no way someone is thinking 2048 on New Year’s Day when this was taken, a year 25 away, stop making excuses
