but say “fish and chips” and suddenly it sounds horrible to americans

there’s a restaurant in my general area that if you ask for ‘fish and chips’ they will serve you fish, however you will get what you guys call ‘crisps’ instead of the actual ‘chips’/’fries’
thats still incredibly british, but just not right
