has jeffalo considered adding more people as mods? i feel like there are a lot of people on wasteof for just6 a small handful of mods...

and if admins/mods have too much power right now (i've seen the admin dashboard), maybe there needs to be a status of mod with less power than admins currently have (for example, they can't delete posts/comments, only “hide” them) so that things can be addressed quickly without being as stressful for the mods while also allowing certain users (who have been on the platform a long time or have proven themselves to be well-behaved/reasonable/trustworthy) to help moderate without giving them dangerous amounts of power.

jeffalo says that it would be better to keep light until we need more people power. those are his opinion and his words, not mine. but, it probably wouldn’t hurt to have just one extra moderator on team whose also actively checking reports and such.

for what you said about the “less power” idea, i was thinking there could be some sort of “janitor” role that trustworthy people could have where it would function in a similar way as to what you described in your example. they could hide potentially rule-breaking content, notify the rest of the team so they could be aware of it and possibly take further action if they needed to, but not have so much power that they could blow up the entire website.

i’m still not entirely sure about it all, but i’m just speaking my mind as i write this reply to your comment.

i hope you don’t mind the small typo at the beginning of my comment!

no worries at all, wuilly (i didn't even notice :D)

yeah, i think the "janitor" role would be a really good way to mitigate the potential harm of posts/comments in the meantime before it's reviewed by actual mods. obviously if one of the "janitors" misuses their privileges the role would have to be taken away though..

i fully agree with you 100%. of course, if a “janitor” gets their role taken away from them, they still wouldn’t have been able to cause as much harm to the website as an admin would.

i could pass this idea along to the rest of the team and see what they think about this idea of a “janitor” role being able to mark posts/comments for review…

also, if you do ever need anyone else, i'm on wasteof a lot (i also get desktop notifications for new messages) and wouldn't mind helping out! :)
