iOS is too locked down, most Android distros are filled with Google/OEM tracking and bloat
and installing something like lineageos on a modern android is not as easy as installing linux on a pc
Never in my life of installing Linux on PCs have I ever had driver issues. Heck, Ubuntu comes with Nvidia drivers which is better than Windows itself. Of course Linux on Phones doesn’t come close to that but with the Essential Phone and Pinephone and stuff it does (oh and don’t forget the Pixel 3a which runs Ubuntu Touch perfectly)
i’m not saying everyone has driver issues on linux - i definitely haven't. but, it's more common in general to have driver issues on linux than it is on windows. the reason the driver issues happen is because the free drivers are written by the community, and the same is true for phones, meaning certain components of certain phones do not work.
ive used Mint on a pretty old laptop and it works fantastically, I think (not sure havent used it in a while) even the keyboard backlight keys work properly! but sadly no NVIDIA GPU to test those out, its got an old AMD Radeon one and that seems to work (at least it’s detected by sensors
