My computer is a convoluted mess that has little proper official documentation

I've been thinking about my computer, and it has 16 GB of RAM, which is not limiting my other components but it seems to be the bare minimum these days. I've been considering upgrading (purely considering) one of the slots from a 8 GB stick to a 16 GB stick, so I would have 24 GB for better video editing and game performance

Any thoughts?

You’re still doing better than me, I’m a MacBook guy and we have soldered ram. I had to shell out like $400 to get up to 32gb just so I wouldn’t run out in the future.

I will admit that MacBooks are good work computers, but other computers have so much more power for so much less

I don’t know if you can get more power, but you can certainly get the same amount for much less.

Pretty sure that stuff like the 4090 is way better than the m2 and m3 stuff. Generally a computer (non-apple) can max $5-6k unless you get unfathomable amounts of memory and storage. The new Mac pro tower starts at 7k, and they charge $400 extra for wheels. The maxed out is $12k

For the battery life you get and performance on battery, you can’t beat MacBooks. And the integration with Apple products is amazing (you can text on MacBooks, FaceTime, etc)
