Hey all πŸ‘‹

Personally I don’t believe in New Years Resolutions as I think you should be able to identify and work on yourself no matter if its the start of the year or a quarter through one - its like waiting for the right moment when the right moment now. Here are some goals I have identified to have to complete: πŸ“š πŸƒ πŸ’™ 🌻

  1. Generate Β£1.5k by 1st September 2024 using my investments, my odd jobs business and work at my local pub working as a waiter for casual events & as a kitchen porter. This is looking highly inevitable so i’m pushing for bonuses.

  2. Start driving lessons from some point after my birthday, 29th March and aim to be passed with my theory & practical tests by the start of October.

  3. Complete regular focused revision for my A level subjects, aiming to see an increase in my grades with a focus to get A B C in July.

  4. Continue to stay committed in the gym doing weight based gym sessions 3-4 days a week as well as 1-2 days of cardio, one of those days being a 5k run. This will not only uplift me mentally but a better physique will give me more confidence.

  5. I want to reach 21 minutes for a 5k before the middle of the summer, August 15th I want to do this. I currently average a time of 26 minutes for a 5k.

  6. Train to complete a 10k sponsored race in under 53 minutes 30 seconds on September 8th. This will enable me to do a half marathon.

  7. Plan my career and view universities + course options, costings and entry requirements.

  8. Daily meditation for better focus.

You should probably put a couple weeks off from racing into the mix to let your body fully recover. But I guess you’re not doing full-time running so you can get away with it. You can definitely get to 21:00 though.

Also, if you want to get faster in running, leg workouts can give you a lot. I assume you’re already doing that though.

Appreciate the advice bro, yeah been running as a hobby for a few years but went through a period of not doing it for about half a year so lost a lot of progress. In the gym I train legs so that helps. Based off my rate of improvement I’ll reach 21 with running 3 times a week (one of those interval) and leg training. Yeah a week before the race will be light training like strengthening and conditioning and less runs.
