I really don’t like essays about drama on here. I think I’ve made that clear in the past but I might as well clear it up now. I don’t like them for 2 main reasons.
1. they are so shallow
They never provide any analysis beyond surface level events and saying that controversy is bad. They never address what the problems are leading to the controversy, or how it can be prevented next time. All they say is that controversy is bad and then just start filling space, because new ideas are scary and it’s gonna get likes anyway. It’s pretty much the equivalent of saying not to have wars because war kills people.
2. they are so pretentious
Usually they’re prompted by one small event. They then make it seem like this one event has been going on for months and that it’s so much bigger than it actually is even though everyone will have forgotten about it by next week. This is really annoying and unnecessary and just creates this image in everyone’s heads that wasteof is just this war land all of a sudden and that it’s not just the exact same as the wasteof from 1-2 years ago that all of these posts act like is utopia.
So that’s why I don’t like those posts.
isn’t this an essay about meta too though?
What does that even mean?
your post is addressing the problems with writing essays about wasteof drama, but it in itself could be considered an essay about wasteof drama
meta is an adjective
it doesn’t have the same problems discussed. This is about a very specific type of essay that’s rampant on this site.
not necessarily
okay fair enough
