This whole it outage shows that we shouldn't put all of our eggs in one basket (looking at you Microsoft and crowdstrike [also why are embedded machines and servers running windows?])

That is true, but if people diversify, it will make an incentive for companies to support other operating systems
Sometime it isn’t possible to support other OS’s.
