My favourite part of the hdmi spec is that it carries a small amount of power (300 mA of 5V to be exact), which means you could in theory charge over hdmi, very slowly

i wonder if you could make a display that only has hdmi and no power connector
yeah you definitely could, a typical phone screen draws ~150mA at ~3.7 volts (if my math and google is right)
