it’s time to play everyone’s favourite game: which microblogging site is which?!
Really interesting ranking! Most perceive Pablo Honey as not a good representation of what the band would go on to do with later releases (although it did jumpstart their career with Creep, Also Hail To The Thief getting an 8/10 is deserved, it’s overlooked a lot). Here’s my ranking from best to worst:
Kid A - my favourite album ever/10 - I could talk about it for hours, but TL;DR, this album indescribably speaks to me.
In Rainbows - 10/10 - Perfectly sequenced and put together record, easy to enjoy compared to others.
A Moon Shaped Pool - 9/10 - Subtle but beautiful, heavy on the heart.
OK Computer - 9/10 - Great record, arguably more relevant now than in 1997.
Amnesiac - 8/10 - Kid A’s sister album has some of Radiohead’s best tracks, less cohesive, however.
Hail To The Thief - 8/10 - Muddled tracklist, but is overlooked as it has some of the best individual songs.
The King Of Limbs - 6/10 - Took ages for this to click, very hypnotic drums. Live version is amazing.
The Bends - 5/10 - Some good songs and overall an improvement for their sophomore album.
Pablo Honey - 2/10 - Creep is good. Feels dated overall and less confident than newer releases.

Gotta hand it to the entertainment industry, they somehow figured out a way to make streaming - which was meant to make watching shows and films cheaper, easier, simpler and more convenient - more or just as expensive, confusing, convoluted and inconvenient as linear TV packages. Like jeez the amount of streaming services is insane; Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, Disney Plus, Apple TV+, Paramount+, MGM+, Discovery+ and probably a ton more I forgot, and these are just the international ones, not region specific ones like Hulu, NOW, Max, BBC iPlayer, etc.
Tom Scott is one of the best YouTubers to ever do it, I’ll miss his weekly videos, but I know whatever he does next will be just as great.
Looks like Opera GX is now injecting adverts for credit cards directly through the browser via pop-ups. Microsoft Edge got in trouble for similar behaviour when they advertised buy now pay later schemes. No idea why a browser company would willingly hurt their image like this, especially one that constantly mocks Microsoft Edge themselves. Opera already got in trouble in for predatory loan apps (screenshot isn’t mine, saw it when I was browsing the Firefox subreddit).
It’s here, the ta’s hangout wrapped 2023. More cool stuff and stats on the website: https://wrapped.hangout.seanjw.com/ (please have a look I spent far too much time coding and manually collecting data for this darn thing)
I still hate how we don't have headphone jacks in most phones today. My previous phone had one (Galaxy Note 9) and my new one now doesn't (S23 Ultra) and it's just inconvenient. I have a lot of wired headphones that I like to use, it was handy to just plug them in whenever I wanted but now I have to remember to carry a stupid adapter that sounds worse than my previous phone. All because Apple, Samsung and more realised they could essentially force customers to buy expensive wireless headphones that are guaranteed to hit the landfill once the batteries give in. A reminder that there are headphones from decades ago that use a 3.5mm jack that still work today, wireless simply won't with our current battery tech and the cost to replace just the batteries compared to just buying a new pair instead. Don't get me wrong, I own wireless headphones, they have perks, but I don't like being forced into buying something just because it means more money for the company long term rather than based on it's quality alone.
Bluesky finally has a proper logo that isn’t a jpeg of the sky lol. It’s quite nice. It’s clean, simple, but recognisable. Also the app now has a similar launch animation that Twitter used to have (on a related note i have 2 invite codes if anyone wishes to join Bluesky)
The Auriali Scratch account turned 3 years old not that long ago, to think this account was going to be left to collect dust until I decided to make it a meme account which resulted in it becoming its own thing is really cool to me, thank you
