My mother bought me some books recently and I asked if they were required reading and she said “No, for pleasure??? I thought you MIGHT enjoy them because I did when I was your age.” (She was mad at me, what specifically she said isn’t hugely important.)

I don’t even have a concept of reading just to read, just to enjoy what you’re reading, Lord, reading just to learn? The only think I have a ‘concept’ of is reading because I HAVE to get it done, because it’s REQUIRED, because whatever. I hate this stupid school year. I hate this stupid year.
