ok so…
wasteof3 got hard — sveltekit is very opinionated about certain things and i made the mistake of getting in during the beta, so upgrading is turning out to be pretty much a whole rewrite in itself.
so i might potentially skip wasteof3 and go to wasteof4, which will be written nicely from the start. i know this is annoying and will make it take even longer, but we can use the opportunity to make a better UI.
i thought about this for some time, and i made the realization that wasteof3’s UI really is not so good. so we can use this opportunity to make a really good UI for wasteof4.
it should be modern like wasteof2, but have some character like wasteof3. anybody got any suggestions/websites they like the UI/UX of?

the database server is a little bit dying. i’ve made a backup of the site as of today. i think i fixed the problem, but if it breaks irreversibly by tomorrow, i’m going to move the database to the new server. so any posts soon might disappear.

what would happen, if during the world cup finals, both teams walk on and put on a rainbow armband or whatever during their anthems and then just continue with the games?
whats qatar gonna do? cancel the world cup finals then and there? if they care so much for their public image that would certainly not go down well for them. (there is also a lot of money in the world cup)
if both teams do it they're not forfeiting the ability to win. in my books both teams would be winners.
and imo (maybe hot take) using that incredibly rare opportunity to show some solidarity and raise awareness is much more brave than kicking a ball around some more
