Happy New Year everyone!
I spend too much time on wasteof. But of all the places on the internet, this is the only one that is worth coming back to multiple times a day.
Now, I present my goals for 2024. The goals are all specific and quantifiable, so I can measure if I complete them. Here they are:
Run a 5k in under 20 mins by March, under 18 mins by August, and under 16 mins by November
Run over 1500 miles in total
Run a race every month - except January because I canāt find a single convenient race that month.
Finish school early - Iām on track to finish 1-2 weeks early, so I want to keep, if not improve, that lead
Bring the wasteof iOS app to feature parity with wasteof2 by July, and to parity with wasteof4 by November
Do some other big coding project
Read the book of John, taking it slowly through the book - Goal is 3-4 verses per day, John has 879 verses so it should take up the majority of the year
Become (at least) friends with my crush. āBecoming friendsā is defined as getting her phone number. I wonāt see her until August, though and I barely know her. And Iām the most awkward person ever. Weāll see.
Buy an iPhone 16 Pro Max and Apple Watch Series 10 when they come out.
Get a driverās license by August - I need 60 hours of driving practice in total, I have about 10 so far. I havenāt been trying though.
Get a job.
Repost this weekly with progress updates on what Iāve done to keep myself accountable.
2023 was the greatest year of my life. 2024 will be even better. Letās get it.
Time is flying by so fast. This week I:
2: Ran 37 miles. Iām slowly building my mileage over a couple of weeks.
9: I got an Apple Watch series 9 today, I donāt know if it counts. Iāve been needing a new watch and I just couldnāt wait for the Series 10.
I really need to pick up on driving and coding, it seems like whenever I focus on one thing, the other thing suffers.

Fun Fact: We allow people to upload their OWN custom profile photos and even ANIMATED ones!
You hear that, @Meower?
I did this again but with counties. This map includes the Great Lakes as coastline. The most landlocked counties in the country are Geary, Riley, and Clay counties in Kansas. From these, you must pass through at least 19 other counties to reach any ocean or the Great Lakes.
Apologies if youāre colorblind, this map is gonna be garbage especially if you canāt see green or blue.
States are landlocked if they touch no coastlines, but if they touch only landlocked states, they are doubly landlocked. If touching only doubly landlocked states they are triply landlocked, and so on.
If weāre not counting the Great Lakes, Minnesota is the most landlocked state, being quadruply landlocked. Youād have to cross at least 4 states in any route you took to the ocean.
If weāre counting the Great Lakes as coastline, thereās only doubly landlocked states.
Worldwide, there are 44 landlocked countries, but only Uzbekistan and Liechtenstein are doubly landlocked.
Also, I logged into all my alts and unfollowed myself on all of them (except Iām still following myself, to see my own posts in my feed). It cost me 24 followers and 1 place on the top users leaderboard, but now my follower count is purely other people who legitimately followed me. I was wanting to do this for a while but didnāt have enough time to do it.
Iām gonna try to lower my wasteof usage in the next few weeks (at least). Iāve been getting into trouble with debates and arguments on here, and itās generally not conducive to the type of life I want to live. I will still at least post the weekly updates.
Also, I will try to run b4us more consistently. I set an actual reminder for myself to do it.

I like to debate, if it doesnāt devolve into personal attacks. Many other people donāt like to do this. Itās gotten me into trouble before.
I donāt know what to do about it though, because I canāt turn it off. Inevitably, in a moment of carelessness, I will post a response to someoneās post even when I really shouldnāt (as weāve seen with the mef thing yesterday). Anyone have any ides for what to do?
What safeguards should I put in place to stop myself from doing this again? Or, perhaps there should be a separate place to debate complex topics (wasteof isnāt really meant for it anyways, itās hard to navigate long comment chains)
I hate driving. Iāve been thinking about this recently and I think I know why. Iām not an input/output loop type of person. If that doesnāt make sense, let me explain. Anything that requires processing stimuli and responding quickly - Iām terrible at. For example, I barely ever play video games, and when I do, Iām awful at them. And Iāve never been good at team sports that require an input/output loop (basically any sport except track and field or cross country). Whenever I play basketball with other people, Iām awful.
I am good at the input side of things. I can take in a lot of stimuli and process it (though not necessarily quickly). Other people often compliment me in this (though not in such a technical way).
The gap between input and output is the problem. In Super Smash Bros, for example, I canāt track the players and come up with my next move and execute it in real time. I can track the players easily, but not respond. This may have been improvable when I was young, but I donāt think I can improve my hand-eye coordination this far into life.
Anyways, this is why I hate driving. Itās a very high-risk input/output loop. It just saps my energy. We all have our strengths and weaknesses, and this is one of my weaknesses.
My lunch today #stayhealthy
(I didnāt eat the whole thing, I left about half of it)
Iāve been realizing that some of these goals are not necessarily good. For example, running a race every month isnāt always good (itās better to have 2 big peaks in the spring and fall). But, Iām still going to try for these. Theyāre not necessarily bad.
2. I ran 33 miles this week, Iām trying to boost my mileage. Iām still below what I need to be at in total (143 miles right now) but I can easily catch up.
5. My dad got the apple developer account so I just need to clean up the app and release a beta.
10. Iām realizing how much I hate driving. I might make a separate post about this later, but iāve made a ton of posts today. Anyways, I did no driving this week. I just really hate doing it.

A lot of people outside of America are confused by Super Bowl āFootballā so here are a few facts and pointers:
The sport is called football as the ball is exactly 12 inches in length.
Play consists of 112 quarters, each one lasts for about 30 seconds.
During this time players must carry the āFootballā (or āGameballā or āStitchfaceā) as far as possible into the score zone while the other team attempts to kill them.
Once a player has been successfully killed, play is paused while everyone on the other team has the chance to say something nice about them.
In the unlikely event the football is successfully carried into the score zone a ātouchdownerā is awarded (worth 5 points) and the player can earn a further 27 points by kicking the ball through the goalsticks.
In the fifth quarter, the teams are allowed to wear their own clothes.
MULTIBALL can be called at any time.
The iconic football helmet is worn to stop the players from kissing each other.
Play can only stop when everyone has thanked the referee (or āumpireā) and given them a small present (usually a book token). Technically Super Bowl XXI is still being played to this day as someone from the Denver Racoons forgot to do so.
Each player who has the honour of Super Bowling is given a large jewel-encrusted gold ring, that is worn through the nipple.
Hope this is helpful to anyone who is unsure about the game!
