By the Time I Get to Phoenix by Injury Reserve is one of the most distorted and wild albums i’ve heard really, it’s about the passing of a member of the group and sounds like if grief was turned into sound. it’s barely coherent yet that somehow is what makes it so captivating. production is beyond insane. it’s so muddled that it’s sometimes even hard to comprehend what exactly is making some of the sounds. it’s one of the most unique hip hop records i’ve heard. the writing of Top Picks for You is especially good.
