Just heard this record a few days ago and it’s so good I need to share it now or else I will explode (will probably talk about it on @thenewcreators too). Faith In Persona by death’s dynamic shroud is such a good example of how sampling vocals from other songs can show them in a whole new light. The album is a mix of vaporwave, glitch pop and plunderphonics. Each track samples vocals from existing tracks, using perhaps a select part of a song to loop and manipulate, for example one of the songs samples don’t start now by dua lipa and completely changes the vibe of the vocals thanks to the production and overall sound of the song compared to the original. The instrumentals are all original and are so good man, from great bops to ethereal highs like the intro track Tears In Abyss or in my opinion the best track Just To Be Needed, which starts off as a slower acoustic cut that adds dramatic drums which then leads into a synth string outro that samples ghostin by Ariana Grande. The album feels like a really ambitious and extravagant Neil Cicerega mash-up record like Mouth Moods, but Faith In Persona goes beyond and uses original instrumentals. Even if you don’t want to listen to the whole record, I’d highly recommend Just To Be Needed and Tears In Abyss.
