Pentacolor Pattern is the third bonus level of Doorhaven. It contains several passages of single doors with matching keys in from of them, while a series of double doors blocking the goal force the player to exchange between key colors in a specific order.

Description

Oh dear. Looking at all of these keys and doors arranged in this cool pattern is making me a bit dizzy... But hey, at least most of the doors have matching keys in front of them, so you'll certainly have an easy time opening them. Whether that solves the puzzle or not, I'm less sure of.

Puzzle Logic

In order to solve the puzzle, the two white keys need to be traded for two purple keys, then for two pink keys, then two cyan keys, and finally, two orange keys. Only 3 of the paths have purple keys at all, so there are only 3 combinations of 2 paths to try opening at the beginning.

While it may be possible to look ahead to see which 2 to choose, many players will find it easier to simply try each possibility until one of them works.

In this case, any combination that includes the bottom-most purple fails due to wasting an orange key too early. The correct combination is to go for the upper 2 purple doors first.

Solution

  1. Pick up the 2 white keys.

  2. Open doors in the 3rd row from the top, stopping after picking up the purple key.

  3. Open the white door in the 2nd row from the top and pick up the purple key.

  4. Open the bottom 2-purple door and pick up the 2 purple keys.

  5. Open the 3rd row purple door and pick up the white key.

  6. Open doors in the 2nd row from the top, stopping after picking up the pink key.

  7. Open the top white door and pick up the pink key.

  8. Open the bottom 2-pick door and pick up the 2 pink keys.

  9. Open the 2nd row pink door and pick up the white key.

  10. Open doors in the top row, stopping after picking up the cyan key.

  11. Open the bottom white door and pick up the cyan key.

  12. Open the bottom 2-cyan door and pick up the 2 cyan keys.

  13. Open doors in the bottom row, stopping after picking up the orange key.

  14. Open the top cyan door and pick up the white key.

  15. Open the 4th row white door and pick up the orange key.

  16. Open the bottom 2-orange door and touch the goal.
