Crab of the Week - 4
“Crab of the Week is back up and running!”
This week we have the “most invasive decapod species to enter the Mediterranean”, the Nimble Spray Crab! Also known as the Urchin Crab, these lovely crabs are flat as a pancake! They have 4 pairs of legs (8 in total), and sport two small claws in the front that could be mistaken for a 5th pair of shorter legs!
I was making a crab game in Makecode Arcade but accidentally deleted the most recent version (Ver. 4) which had all the nice animations T~T

Crab of the Week - 3
(Apologies for the delay, been a busy week.)
From tide pools in the Pacific Coast, beneath rocks and mussel beds, we find this week’s Crab of the Week, and my personal favorite species, the Red-Spotted Porcelain Crab!
The first thing you may notice about these crabs is the leg count. Most crabs are associated with eight legs and two claws, but these porcelain dolls of the crustacean species have only six legs and two claws!
Just as porcelain, these crabs tend to be very fragile, and often break off limbs with ease to escape danger.
Crab of the Week - 2!
The Frog Crab! From Australia, home of the strangest of creatures, this “primitive” version of the modern crab is Mother Nature’s fighter against Crab-Eating Frogs!
They spend most of their time buried in the sand with nothing but their eyes pointing out (same), only leaving to catch unsuspecting prey, and to find a mate!
Not much else is unique to these critters, but you have to admit their looks are unique enough.
This Crab of the Week is dedicated to the lovely @froggy! Happy Birthday!!
Crabs, especially young ones, love to eat sand! Natural sand is tasty to them, and is packed with nutrients they need.
So if you ever have a little crab friend in a bucket and he starts eating sand, don’t worry, he’s just snacking!

Crab of the Week - 1!
Coming from Central and South America, with an herbivore diet and some of the spookiest colors I’ve ever seen, the Halloween Moon Crab!
Personally one of my top favorite species of crab, these little critters are fresh out of Spirit Halloween, and ready to spook the world with their orange legs and purple claws!
If all goes well, I should be able to post a “Crab of the Week” every Monday. Have a lovely week, everyone!
Not a scientific crab fact, but a post crab lovers should see!
“Under the Boardwalk” is an animated family film centered around hermit crabs on the shoreline of New Jersey! It is sadly another example of corporate greed, because Paramount did not give it the proper advertising it deserved.
I personally give the movie a 7.5/10. It’s a nice movie to pass some time, not terrible and not too crazy. I very much enjoyed the comedic references to hermit crab anatomy and behaviors! I will also stand by the fact Bobby Marinara is the best character <3
A little fun fact on the film; there is a side character credited as “Hot-Sauce Crab”, who is a hermit crab with a broken hot sauce as his shell. This background character with a few lines and quick gags is voiced by the one and only Mr. Beast! Don’t believe me? Watch the credits!
Go give this movie some love! It’s on Paramount+, and if you don’t have that you can always legally stream it online. It wont give money to the creators but it still gives the movie some love, you know?
It is in theatres, but not very commonly.
In October and November, but sometimes as late as December or January, MILLIONS of red crabs venture across Christmas Island. The locals are very kind to the crabbies, and even close off roads to keep them safe!
